Dedicated bookkeepers for your practice, on UK time, with the data protection paperwork already done.

Afrona Secure is a compliance-led outsourcing company in Nairobi. We supply trained, supervised bookkeepers who work inside your own Xero or QuickBooks as part of your team, during your working day.

Or write to Sankararb@afronasecure.com

Nairobi is two to three hours ahead of London, so a question you send at 4pm is answered the same afternoon.

What we supply

  • A named bookkeeperYours, not shared. They learn your clients and keep their books month after month.
  • Inside your softwareThey log in to your Xero or QuickBooks with accounts you control. Nothing is downloaded or stored in Kenya.
  • Second-person reviewEvery piece of work is checked and signed off by a second person before it reaches you.
  • A trained backupEach client has a second bookkeeper who already reviews the work, so absence or departure never stops delivery.
  • UK practice trainedVAT, Making Tax Digital, payroll, CIS and the UK filing calendar, taught before any client work. Xero and QuickBooks certified.
  • The paperwork, doneProcessor agreement, international data transfer agreement and a transfer risk assessment, prepared for you to adopt.

How it works

  1. A short call

Fifteen minutes on where your team is stretched and what you would hand over first.

  2. A paid two-week trial

Real work on a handful of your clients, priced to be approved without a meeting. Credited to month one if you continue.

  3. Paperwork and access

NDA, processor agreement and transfer documents signed; user accounts created by you, with two-factor authentication.

  4. A monthly seat

One dedicated bookkeeper per seat, cancel with 30 days' notice. Add seats as your client list grows.

The questions partners ask us

Is it lawful to send our clients' data to Kenya?
Yes. Kenya has no UK adequacy decision, so the transfer needs an Article 28 processor agreement, the ICO's international data transfer agreement and a transfer risk assessment. We prepare all three for you. Kenya's Data Protection Act is modelled on the GDPR and enforced by an independent regulator.
Where does the data actually sit?
In your software. Our staff work in your Xero or QuickBooks through accounts you issue and can revoke. We hold no copies.
Do we have to tell our clients?
Your engagement letter and privacy notice should say work may be carried out by a subcontractor outside the UK. We give you the wording.
What about our AML obligations?
They stay with you as the supervised firm. Our staff are trained to flag unusual transactions to your nominated officer; they do not perform customer due diligence.
What if something goes wrong?
You hear from us within 24 hours with the facts, so you can meet your 72-hour deadline. Access is revoked, evidence preserved, and you get a written report.
What if our bookkeeper leaves?
The trained backup, who already reviews the work monthly, steps in. You do not start from zero.
Do you use AI on our data?
By default, only the AI features already inside your own Xero, QuickBooks or Dext, so nothing leaves a platform you have approved. External tools are used only if you approve them in writing, on terms that exclude training on your data. A named person reviews everything before it reaches you.
What happens when we stop?
Access is revoked the same day and you receive a certificate confirming any transient data has been destroyed.

Who we are

Afrona Secure Limited is a Nairobi company whose business is proof: certified data destruction and chain-of-custody evidence for organisations that must show regulators and auditors exactly what happened to their data. We built the bookkeeping service on the same footing, because the question a UK partner is really asking is whether they can show they acted properly.

The company is registered with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner as a data processor and works to NIST SP 800-88 for data sanitisation. The founder is legally trained with a background in data protection and compliance, and speaks to your compliance partner as a peer.

ODPC registered

Data processor, registration number 552-7401-7E98.

Supervised delivery

Bookkeeping reviewed by a qualified Kenyan accountant, with your firm signing off.

Evidence at every step

Access records, review sign-offs, an approved tool register, and a certificate at exit.

Tell us where your team is stretched.

Fifteen minutes is enough to know whether a trial makes sense. Write to Sankara R Busia, Founder and Director, and you will get a reply within one working day.
